Welcome to
The Period Place
While periods are talked about more than ever, there hasn’t been a transformative change in the way society accepts menstruation or supports and empowers people who get periods.
As Aotearoa’s largest period charity, we’re here to change that.
At The Period Place, we encourage stigma-crushing conversations, facilitate the delivery of safe and inclusive period education and have distributed over 1.4 million period products around Aotearoa to those who face barriers accessing them.
Intergenerational period equity for Aotearoa
Our vision

Feedback from our community
“Our wāhine are always in need of pads, sometimes in [our] training, they have to stop and run to the supermarket.
Having these [disposable pads] on hand and on-site - we are very grateful, thank you!”

“I was genuinely brought to tears with the kindness of receiving products.
It has greatly reduced my anxiety (I would worry every single day about bleeding through clothing), and has removed the financial burden of having periods that last for weeks.”

“Period products are such a help for teenage parents who are often really struggling financially.
You really are helping to remove barriers for the period poverty they often experience.”

“It’s embarrassing but sometimes I can't afford products so just use toilet paper, some will say budget better… But when it comes to that time and I have to choose pads or bread for my kids, bread wins every time.”
“Loss of income makes you feel degraded that you cannot afford a necessity such as pads or tampons.”
